Fernado and Umberto Campana are two brothers from Brazil one with a degree in law the other architecture. They began working on furniture in 1989. Their inspirations mainly come from Brazil and its ‘people, habits, and landscape’. These include recycling of goods on the streets of Sao Paulo, hawkers, surreal Brazilian art. Other inspirations include ‘Modernism of an Oscar Niemeyer or Roberto Burle Marx’ and a search for new materials. The TransPlastic collection takes inspiration from a sci-fi feature in which plastic is in a battle with nature. ‘The HSBC PB Lounge is inspired by the Brazilian Indian house called "Oca," and made of raffia and is very good in terms of thermal and sound comfort.’
